Podcast Interviews: How To Get Your Guests To Really Talk

If doing podcasts interviews is just feel like having a conversation, then why do they too-often feel like a lot of blather? The host-interviewer must to learn how to skillfully guide the talks, how to ask questions to get guests to reveal who they are, how they think, and share information that hasn’t been revealed on other shows.
While there are plenty of guides about what makes a terrific interviewer, there is only one, almost-forgotten, interview methodology. This workshop will introduce you to John Sawatsky, a Canadian investigative reporter who became an interviewing guru, training journalists and hosts around the world. I’ll lead participants through Sawatsky’s deceptively simple method to demonstrate how you can get the interviewee to do most of the talking about what matters.
Janice Neil is a journalism professor at TMU who teaches podcasting and leads workshops on interviewing.
